A Typical First Visit
When you call to schedule an appointment as a new patient, you'll be asked to stop taking any antihistamines for 72 hours prior to your appointment. This is to assure an accurate allergy test, should you need one. You can expect your first visit, if being allergy tested, to last from one to one-and-a-half hours.
Once scheduled, please arrive approximately 15 minutes early to fill out your patient paperwork. You can avoid this by downloading the necessary paperwork, printing it out and having it filled out at the time of your appointment.
Please be sure to bring your insurance card and any referrals you may need from your primary care physician.
You will be responsible for your co-pay at the time of check-in on your appointment day. We accept cash, personal check, Visa and Mastercard, as well as cards from healthcare spending accounts with the Visa or Mastercard logo.
If you are not covered on an insurance plan, please don't hestitate to call us. We will work with you on a payment plan in order to get you the treatment and/or medications you need.
Your visit starts with a discussion with the doctor to determine your allergy triggers. He'll also discuss your symptoms and current methods of managing them. If you haven't been skin tested recently, we will put a series of common New Mexico pollens on your skin. We may also do a type of breathing test called a spirometry test. Once the testing is done, the doctor will review the results, and discuss with you the options for treatment.
